GW Course Report: Royal Liverpool

We are less than a month away from the Masters at Augusta and the year’s first Major Championship! Last year’s Major Championships were full of wonderful stories, with Adam Scott becoming the first Australian to win the Masters to Phil Mickelson lifting the Claret Jug! Jason Dufner and Justin Rose also won their first Major Championships, winning the PGA Championship and the US Open respectively!

Although the year’s first Major has yet to be played, it is never too early to look at the venues. This year’s Open Championship will return to Royal Liverpool Golf Club in Hoylake and Golfing World takes a look at the historic course in its latest Course Report! Royal Liverpool has always been one of the strongest link course in the UK and is actually the second oldest seaside course in England.

The course is said to be a “breeder of mighty champions,” including the likes of Walter Hagen, Bobby Jones and more recently in 2006, Tiger Woods! Now, the Open Championship, first hosted by Hoylake in 1897, will return in 2014 and it will surely give the players a tough test before crowning the Champion Golfer of the Year!
