We’ve featured some pretty awesome driving range challenges before including Rickie Fowler and Marc Leishman on the Gold Coast, Rickie Fowler’s Red Bull Battle, the UBS Urban Golf Challenge in Hong Kong and Rickie Fowler hitting golf balls in the city.
On March 11, 2014, Taylormade Golf will take over several cities in the world for their Speed Pocket Challenge. The event will take place at Times Square in New York City, the Royal Bank Plaza in Toronto, Union Square in San Francisco and Canary Wharf in London with golfers testing a SpeedBlade 6-iron while competing for distance gains with other golfers around the world! It’s not the first time Taylormade has taken over Times Square though – they had a “white out” in 2011 to promote the R11 and Superfast 2.0 drivers, the first white crowned drivers.
A scoreboard will track players as they hit shots and compete for the most distance gained against golfers from the other driving ranges for the right to be crowned the Speed Pocket World Champion. If you’re in New York, you’ll also get a chance to get some swing tips from instructor Hank Haney and Tour pro-turned-Golf Channel analyst, Charlie Rhymer. You can find out more about the Science of the Speed Pocket that is used in not only the SpeedBlade irons, but also the Tour Preferred CB and MB irons. Take a look at the driving ranges below!
