The WGC-Cadillac Championship got underway today at the newly renovated Trump National Doral however, weather delays caused some rounds to be halted midway due to darkness. The responsibility of renovating the famous Blue Monster was given to Gil Hanse, the same course architect who is responsible for the 2016 Olympic golf course in Rio, Brazil! Although Gil Hanse was in charge, real estate mogul Donald Trump, who bought Doral in 2012, was very intimately involved in the changes of the golf course.
With the aim of respecting the golf course but to also bring some life and new challenges to the Blue Monster, the top 70 players in the world embark on the 2014 WGC-Cadillac Championship to take on the new Blue Monster! So far, feedback has been positive and the golf course is certainly showing its bite, with world number 1 player Tiger Woods going +2 through 10 holes on the first day of the tournament. The course may not have anything to do with this but Henrik Stenson also managed to shank a shot today! Guess it happens to the best and the worst of us!
