A couple of weeks ago, we saw that the Taylormade SLDR Mini Driver made the USGA’s conforming list. It looks like it has made it’s debut this week at the WGC-Cadillac Championship at Doral. Details are limited, but from the USGA conforming list, only a 12 degree head was listed. The clubhead looks to be in the range of 250 CC with a shorter shaft than a traditional driver. The lack of a sliding weight makes the SLDR Mini Driver more like the SLDR fairway woods than the actual driver! One thing is for sure though, we love the satin/matte grey look!
We imagine that this club will be a direct competitor to Callaway Golf’s “Deep” series of woods, particularly the new Phrankenwood X-Hot 2 Deep woods – you can see a photo of it below. We can imagine that a club that is as long as a driver but can be controlled more consistency will definitely be in the bags of Taylormade Golf’s touring staff by the time The Masters comes around – stay tuned for more details!
