Golf is often thought of as an individual sport. There is no one but you and the golf course. The importance of a caddy cannot be undervalued but team events are rare and that’s why the Ryder Cup, Presidents’ Cup and the new EurAsia Cup are so special! In hopes of breaking the individualism in the game of golf and encourage camaraderie, the VRGA (Vancouver Recreational Golf Association) was revived with the goal of “Connecting Vancouver through the Game of Golf!”
2014 will be the VRGA’s inaugural season. There will be 9 rounds in total in its schedule, starting on May 18th. These rounds will be played on some of the best courses in the Greater Vancouver region, including Golf BC’s Mayfair Lakes Golf & Country Club and Furry Creek Golf & Country Club, where parts of the famous Happy Gilmore movie was filmed! We’ve played many of the courses that the VRGA events will be played on, take a look at some of the photos below and visit our Facebook page for a full gallery!
To strive for their goal, VRGA’s tournaments will be played in teams of two, in match play format. Not only does this build camaraderie but VRGA also hopes to create networking opportunities as well. On March 15th, the VRGA will host a Meet & Greet at the Richmond Driving Range from 2pm to 6pm and Eighteen Under Par will be sure to drop by and show our support for golf in Vancouver! Check out some of the photos of the courses the VRGA’s events will be held on this year!
