Perhaps Nike Golf’s biggest innovation for 2014 is their new line of RZN golf balls and the development of the Speedlock RZN Core Technology. An interlocking core design (similar to a waffle iron) interconnects with the compression layer to form a tighter bond for faster ball speed, longer distance and more stability into the wind. This new core technology eliminates the slipping that normally occurs between a traditional, smooth-surface core and the outer layer
In this video, we see Rock Ishii, Nike Golf Director of Product Creation (golf balls) testing the new RZN golf balls with Rory McIlroy. There will be four lines of RZN golf balls available, all for players of different abilities and swing speeds:
RZN Platinum: Tour Performance control and moderate spin, four piece, $46/dozen
RZN Black: Tour Performance distance and less spin, four piece, $46/dozen
RZN Red: Distance Performance, longer carry, three piece, $30/dozen
RZN White: Distance Performance, softer feel, for swing speeds 95-100 mph, three piece, $30/dozen
You can see Rory talking about the new RZN Black golf ball below in this video from the Nike Golf Innovation Summit, captured by Stephanie Wei:
