Inside The Game: Hideki Matsuyama

22 year old Hideki Matsuyama is one of Japan’s rising stars on the PGA Tour. Matsuyama turned professional in April of 2013. He’s had a solid year on the PGA Tour, winning 3 times on the Japan Golf Tour and finishing T10 at the US Open at Merion Golf Club, T6 at The Open Championship at Muirfield and T19 at the PGA Championship at Oak Hill. He did not play in The Masters in 2013, but played as an amateur in 2011 (low amateur) and 2012, finishing T27 and T54 respectively. This fine play got him a spot on the 2013 President’s Cup International Team!

He’s not the only young Japanese star golfer though – his friend, Ryo Ishikawa, also 22 years old, has been the face of Japanese golf for the past couple years, turning professional in 2008 at the age of 16. With such young and talented players internationally as well, hopefully Matsuyama or Ishikawa can become the first ever Japanese golfer to win a Major Championship! Take a look at the video above by Golfing World as they sit down and go Inside The Game with Hideki Matsuyama!
