Jack Nicklaus Honored by NGCOA

Last week, the NGCOA (National Golf Course Owners Association) honored the Golden Bear Jack Nicklaus with its Award of Merit. This award is designated for long-term and significant contributions to the game of golf and Mr. Nicklaus has definitely done his fair share!

Jack Nicklaus’ resume speaks for itself, winning 18 major championships that set the benchmark for golfers after him, especially Tiger Woods. In addition, Jack Nicklaus is also responsible for more than 380 golf course designs around the world! During the NGCOA award dinner, Mr. Nicklaus had the opportunity to speak and touched on a few interesting topics.

Jack Nicklaus Award of Merit

One of them was how he thinks the USGA may make changes to the golf ball in order to scale back distances. As we all know the golf ball has gone through a tremendous evolution in technology and is one of the major game changers in the game of golf.

Mr. Nicklaus also revealed that he’s working with SNAG golf, a company whose mission is to grow the game of golf through the learning system it designed for people of all ages and abilities! Golf has been criticized as being too slow, too hard and too expensive but with SNAG golf, the goal is to introduce golf into the park systems, starting with six cities (Dallas, Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Miami and Columbus) as its pilot, learn-to-play program! As seen in the videos, SNAG golf is a very fun way to introduce people to golf and it will only benefit the game in the long run!
