Vancouver Golf Show 2014

IMG_9955

We had the opportunity to attend the 2014 Vancouver Golf Show at this year and had a great time! In addition to testing out the latest products from the manufacturers that were on hand, we also got to discover a lot of different resorts and golf courses around our beautiful province of British Columbia as well as across the border in Washington State and around the world. It seemed that the show was a little smaller this year compared to last year though!

When we entered the show, we were given a free round of golf at a golf course of our choice – having been to The Falls Golf Course last year, we couldn’t wait to return! After signing up for our free round of golf, we made our way inside and passed by one of the best attractions at the show – the US Open Trophy at the Chambers Bay Golf Course booth, host of the 2015 US Open! We visited Chambers Bay last year by playing a round and got to see first hand what the pros will be tested with in 2015. We enjoyed our time there so much last year that we will be returning again this year to play! So be sure to keep up with our website for news on that! In the meantime, check out some of the photos we took last year on our Facebook page!

We then made our way around other golf course booths including local golf courses, golf courses in the BC Interior Regions as well as south of the border. One course that really caught our eye was Gamble Sands Golf Course in Brewster, Washington. This golf course is located in Central Washington and the terrain really reminds us of some the golf courses in the Kamloops and Kelowna regions of British Columbia such as Desert Blume, The Dunes and Tobiano. Gamble Sands Golf Course was created by golf course architect David McLay Kidd, the same architect who designed the Bandon Dunes Golf Resort! We’ll have more on Gamble Sands later!

Then we got to the demo zone where we were able to hit the latest clubs from some of golf’s biggest manufacturers. Callaway, Adams Golf, Taylormade, Cobra and TourEdge were on site, but unfortunately, Nike Golf was not there this year. Callaway had their full line up of X2 Hot equipment and both Big Bertha drivers on hand! We also had the chance to hit the new Apex Pro irons and were very impressed!

We then went next door to the Adams Golf booth and saw the XTD Forged irons as well as the new XTD Cross Cavity irons that will be released later in the year. They didn’t have any of the XTD Tour’s on hand yet, as they’ve only made one set in the world for Ernie Els! It seems like there is no middle ground anymore with Adams golf – Players Irons with the XTD Forged or Super Game Improvements with the XTD Cross Cavities!

Next to Adams was probably the busiest booth at the show – Taylormade Golf. On hand were the Speedblade irons as well as Jetspeed line of woods and SLDR’s. We were VERY excited to see the full range of Tour Preferred irons available – the CB, MC and MB irons – and gave them a test! Personally, they are some of the best irons we’ve hit from Taylormade – we just wish we took photos of these clubs ourselves, but we couldn’t stop hitting them! If you’re in the market for new irons, definitely go test them out. And the cherry on top were the Tour Preferred and Tour Preferred X golf balls that we got to see and feel in person! We can’t wait to test them out in real world conditions!

Next was Cobra golf, who had their latest drivers for visitors to test. On hand were the new BiO Cell and BiO Cell+ drivers and also TourEdge Golf, who doesn’t have much of a marketing presence but creates a lot of great golf clubs. We got to test out the new Exotics XCG7 and XCG7 Beta drivers and were very impressed with the feel of the driver. Because the hitting area was indoors, we couldn’t see ball flight or distance, so hopefully we’ll get to hit this on a Trackman at Modern Golf Vancouver or hit it in real life soon! Stay tuned for more information about TourEdge products!

It was a fun show to attend and we got to see a lot of great golf courses and test some of the latest equipment for 2014. We can’t wait until our golf season starts in Vancouver – if only the weather would get a bit warmer!
