This week at the Northern Trust Open, Ernie Els, who recently joined Adams Golf, put a new set of irons in his bag. But it isn’t a set of irons that you would imagine a PGA Tour pro to play – Ernie has decided to add the new XTD Tour Irons into his bag! He started the year off with the XTD Forged Irons but switched over because of the feel and added distance he’s getting from the XTD Tour and cross-cavity technology. We’ve featured the original XTD Cross-Cavity Irons the other day, but these Tour versions have about a 10% smaller clubhead and less offset.
The XTD Tour Irons are more to be categorized as game-improvement irons, much different than the Callaway Razr X Muscleback irons Els use to play while at Callaway. Watch the video above as Justin Honea, Director of R&D, talks about these new XTD Tour Irons. They will most likely come to retail in the middle of 2014.
