Dubai is a special place to Rory McIlroy. Not only has Rory played multiple tournaments as an amateur in Dubai but in the 2009 Omega Dubai Desert Classic, Rory earned his first professional victory by beating 2013 US Open Champion, Justin Rose, by one shot! These fond memories are probably the main reason why Rory calls Dubai his home away from home and it is only fitting that Rory was on hand to mark the official opening of the Nike Golf Store Dubai!
Since Nike and Rory McIlroy partnered up in 2013, Nike has pushed Rory very aggressively in terms of its marketing. From appearing in a commercial with Tiger Woods to teaming up with Wayne Rooney in a game of footgolf, Rory is slowly becoming Nike’s new face of golf! Although Rory came up short at the recent Dubai Classic, losing to Scotland’s Stephen Gallcher, he had a strong start to 2014 after a poor season last year. With his new 2014 gear in his bag, we are expecting a huge year from Rory!
