Taylormade Project (a) Golf Balls

Taylormade has announced their first set of golf balls for 2014 in the Tour Preferred and Tour Preferred X. These two lines of golf balls, similar to the Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1X are designed to perform for some of the best golfers in the world. But Taylormade also understands that not all golfers will benefit from playing a Tour golf ball – that is where the Project (a) golf ball comes in. It is designed to address the specific needs of amateur players by providing more spin on mid- and short-irons as well as around the green.

The Project (a) golf balls will feature the cast urethane Soft Tech cover, REACT Core and Spin Mantle technology found in the Tour Preferred golf balls. These features will be key to enhance spin and have a softer feel, increase ball speed and distance and provide consistent spin on all shots. However, being only a 3-layer golf ball, the Project (a) will provide the most spin in areas where golfers need it most: 60 yards and in. See below for a comparison of the new Project (a) golf ball to other competing golf balls. The Project (a) is designed for your Tour in mind and will retail for about $31.99 per box.

You can expect that this is not the last golf ball offering from Taylormade in 2014. From the Taylormade Japan website, we see that there is one last offering which is the Taylormade DISTANCE golf balls, a 2-piece golf ball featuring the REACT Core and cast urethane Soft Tech cover. It looks like it will be offered in Tour White and Tour Yellow options and designed to be the longest ball in Taylormade’s golf ball line up in 2014.
