Phil Mickelson on Pinehurst No.2

This week, the 2014 golf season has finally begun for Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods. Much has been made about Tiger’s chase to tie Jack Nicklaus’ eighteen career Major Championships but Phil also has his own chase as he aims to win his first US Open and complete his career Grand Slam! Only five players have completed the career Grand Slam in the modern era so it’s no easy task!

Last year, the US Open was held at the classic golf course of Merion Golf Club, where Justin Rose won his first career Major! This year, the US Open returns to Pinehurst No.2 where Phil Mickelson was runner-up to the late Payne Stewart back in 1999. Although Phil has played well at Pinehurst, the course has undergone quite a few changes as Jim Furyk stated. However, Phil is feeling confident with his game, especially with a new driver in his bag. With his game in top form and his motivation to win the elusive US Open, we wouldn’t bet against Phil Mickelson this year or the years to come!
