Cleveland has announced new equipment to their line up a couple months ago with their Smart Square Putters, Smart Sole Wedges and the 588 Altitude Driver. Most recently though, Cleveland Golf has introduced their latest line of woods, the 588 Custom Driver, 588 Fairway Wood and 588 Hybrid. The 588 line of woods will be available on February 7, 2014.
The 588 Custom Driver has been Tour tested and validated. It features a 460CC titanium head that offers a great combination of distance, forgiveness and accuracy. The adjustable hosel offers 12 different settings to tune loft, lie and face angle to maximize the driver for your swing. Loft and lie have a total range of 3°, while face angle has a total range of 4.5°. Swingweight can also be adjusted and optimized by the adjustable weight screw on the back of the sole (the standard weight is 3 grams). Weight is positioned low in the club head due to the advanced wall construction for a higher, more penetrating ball flight. In the clubface, variable face thickness technology creates faster ball speeds on off-center hits for maximum forgiveness. The 588 Custom driver is paired with a premium Matrix OZIK 6Q3 shaft to promote a mid-launch and provides an all-around combination of speed and stability with solid feel at impact.
The 588 Fairway Wood is also tour-proven and offers optimal face, sole and crown dimensions to promote a clean, confidence-inspiring look off the deck or off the tee. Power and forgiveness is combined in this versatile design. Similar to the 588 Custom Driver, variable face thickness technology is also used to promote faster ball speeds on off-center hits. A rear sole plug and advanced wall construction positions weight low in the club head for a higher launch. A premium Matrix OZIK 6Q3 shaft is also used in the 588 Fairway Wood and designed for a mid-high launch. It will be available in lofts of 14.0°, 15.5°, 18.0° and 20.5°.
The 588 Hybrid is the first Cleveland hybrid engineered with both variable thickness (similar to the 588 Custom Driver and Fairway Wood) as well as Gliderail Technology to provide playability as well as maximum distance and forgiveness. The 588 Hybrid has a compact profile with minimal offset and like the fairway wood, a rear sole plug and advanced wall construction allows more weight to be positioned low in the club for a higher launch. In the Hybrid, Cleveland puts in a Matrix OZIK Altus shaft designed for high launch and all-around speed and stability with a solid feel at impact. 588 Hybrids will be available in lofts of 18.0°, 20.5°, 23.0° and 26.0°.
