Taylormade has officially announced their Tour Preferred line of equipment yesterday, including the CB, MC and MB sets of irons. Also announced yesterday was the release of Adidas’ latest golf shoe, the AdiZero One (second generation of the AdiZero) golf shoe. Last year, they released the innovative Adidas AdiZero, a minimalistic, lightweight golf shoe that changed the golf footwear market and this year, with the AdiZero One, they’ve improved on the successful design.
The AdiZero One is even lighter than the original AdiZero. It weighs only 272 grams and is 10% lighter while performing maximum performance and tour-level traction. With it’s low profile design, players will really get to feel the ground beneath their feet, allowing them to generate even more power from their swings. The AdiZero One also features an ultra-light one-piece fused upper that bonds together five layers to deliver a consistent glove-like fit on the foot, rather than stitching together multiple layers like traditional golf shoe construction.
A lighter and thinner seven-cleat performance outsole was also developed to reduce weight, but is 20% wider than the AdiZero Tour. The biggest change would be the proprietary centre cleat utilizing what Adidas calls CenTraXion Technology, to provide ultimate grip while maintaining stability throughout the swing.
The AdiZero One will be available on January 23 in four colourways (with three additional colourways on May 1st) for around $180 USD – the blue colourway does fit in well with the blue themes that Taylormade has incorporated in the SLDR, JetSpeed line of equipment and SpeedBlade Irons. You can see the promotional videos they have of the AdiZero One below featuring Jason Day and Sergio Garcia as well as their first initial impressions of the shoe!
