Callaway Golf has gone through some notable changes over the past couple of years. They’ve been re-branding the whole image of the company, especially with their social media and online presence, to ensure all consumers understand the new products that they’re releasing. It’s definitely a refocus onto consumer needs again. They’ve also started to get edgier and younger with their Tour staff players.
Although they’ve lost Ernie Els to Adams Golf, their core of Phil Mickelson, Jim Furyk and Sandral Gal is still there as well as brand ambassador Gary Player. They’ve also signed players such as Ryo Ishikawa, Gary Woodland and most recently (and perhaps the biggest signing of 2014 so far), Henrik Stenson, as well as Harris English, Pat Perez, youngsters Thomas Pieters, James Erkenbeck and Chase Seiffer, and the yet to be announced signing of Lydia Ko.
Harris English is a 24 year old Tour pro who clinched his first PGA Tour win at the FedEx St. Jude Classic. He then backed that up with another win at the OHL Classic at Mayakoba. He first burst onto the golf scene after winning on the Nationwide Tour as a college amateur in 2011. During his collegiate career at the University of Georgia, he was a four-time All American and led his high school to four state titles.
Another recent signing by Callaway Golf is with player Pat Perez, a man who really doesn’t need much of an introduction. He was a Taylormade staffer last year, but joins Callaway for 2014. He’s tweeted photos of some of his equipment throughout the week though, including a Big Bertha driver, a 17-degree X2 Hot fairway wood, Apex Pro irons, a Speed Regime 3 golf ball and an Odyssey Metal-X Milled putter (no.7).
Callaway has hinted that there will be more announcements regarding player signings in 2014, so stay tuned and we’ll bring you the information as soon as we find out!
