GW Lab: Golf Ball Development

Golfing World started a series in which they look at the advancement of golf and intend to build a timeline, making note of all the “game changers” along the way. The golf ball is arguably the most major “game changer” in the game. It has been reinvented and evolved many times, even with the modern ball of the Titleist ProV1! And now, Nike has taken their innovation even further, using the material resin in their new RZN golf balls.

The golf ball sure has changed drastically over the years, from wooden balls in 1405 to feathery balls, then golf balls using goose feathers before advancing to golf balls made from tree sap and evolving to the Haskell ball in 1902. Take a look as Simon Holmes and the GW Lab takes us through the timeline of the evolution of the golf ball!
