We got our first look at Google Glass in the sport of golf a couple of months ago with Billy Horschel at the 2013 Barclays Championship. We’re only scratching the surface of what the Google Glass technology can bring to the sport of golf. In this post, we’re introducing GolfSight for Google Glass, brand new glassware from the makers of SkoDroid – Golf GPS Mobile App. The new technology will give real time golf GPS distances right in front of your eyes!
Not only will the GolfSight GPS Rangefinder help golfers see distances without looking down at another device, it’ll give them great visualizations of the course and provide an entirely new experience on the links. It also has the capabilities to track scores and give golfers a great way to share their round with friends and some of the amazing views on a golf course! When GolfSight is launched, it will find the closest golf courses when launched, pulling from a list of over 25,000 golf course worldwide. The main screen will display exact distances to the green alongside a satelitte image provided by Google Maps.
As you can see in the video above, the “Hazards & Targets” screen can show images and the distance to bunkers, water hazards, sand traps, trees and target points. Golfers will also get to enter their score on every green with a single tap and swipe on the Glass touchpad. No more having to take out a scorecard and write your scores down – you’ll be able to track your entire round with GolfSight! You will also be able to record any part of your game or golf course through GolfSight as well! Very cool technology and much more compact compared to what we saw below in these videos featuring Tiger Woods!
