The advancement of technology in golf has come a long way in recent years and with the explosion of social media and smart phones, it was only a matter of time before these technology made its way to golf! Most people are familiar with apps such as PGA TOUR Caddie however, things are being taken to a entirely new level!
One of these new apps is Game Golf, which we have featured before with Graeme McDowell! The Game Golf system uses GPS and chips attached to each club to track every shot in your round and these stats can also be shared through social media in real time. As it says on its website, it’s “a comprehensive system, designed to seamlessly track and display your golf round in a dynamic interface with stats, trends and information you can actually use.”
Another app that’s making use of the social media craze is Game Book, which was started by former professionals from Finland. This free app keeps track of live competition scoring, sharing real time comments and photos with anyone linked to the user of the app! Take a look at the video from CNN Living Golf as Patrick Snell explores these new apps that’s slowly changing how golfers interact with each other during a round of golf!
