A quick glance at the Rolex Rankings and one would immediately notice the diversity of nations represented throughout the list. Golf is truly a global game, especially in the Women’s game and to celebrate this fact, a new event will make its debut in 2014! Former number 1 player in the world Yani Tseng will try to get her game back in shape for this event and Korea’s top players were recently in Incheon to discuss the announcement of the inaugural International Crown!
The International Crown will be played from July 21-27, 2014 at Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, Maryland, just outside of Baltimore. Its format is quite different from the format we are used to in team events such as the Ryder Cup, President’s Cup and Soheim Cup. In this inaugural event, teams from eight different countries will battle it out in a global match play competition to become the world’s best golf nation! The International Crown is a biennial event and will be played at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Illinois in 2016. which was the host of the 2009 Solheim Cup.
