We’ve seen A Day in the Life of Ian Poulter and also went Inside The Game with him as well. Today, we go behind the scenes in this three part series during Poulter’s TrackMan sessions. Poulter has recently been spoken of as one of the “best players without a major” in the game right now. Although he’s had remarkable Ryder Cup success, that same intensity has not seem to translate into all four days of a Major championship. Hopefully, these TrackMan sessions help dial him in! Take a look at his TrackMan numbers below!
Part 1: Club speed, ball speed and smash factor
TrackMan catches up with Ian Poulter during his break and talked with him about his TrackMan numbers and how he uses the system during his practice sessions.
Part 2: Optimizing club speed, ball speed and carry distance
In 2012, Ian Poulter ranked 24th in Total Distance Efficiency on the PGA TOUR. Total Distance Efficiency takes the player’s average total distance on drives divided by their average club speed measured by TrackMan. This is the second video in a series of clips with Poulter as he was preparing for the 2013 PGA TOUR season. Listen to Poulter talk more about being efficient with the driver.
Part 3: Changing angle of attack
Ian Poulter talks about how attack angle relates to his swing and the numbers that he tries to produce with the driver. Poulter is 14th in Total Distance Efficiency on the TOUR in 2013. This number looks at Total Distance versus Club Speed.
