Jordan Spieth has had one amazing Rookie season on the PGA Tour! Spieth had a strong collegiate amateur career with the University of Texas and turned professional at age 19. He’s started the season with no status on the PGA Tour and played his way to a T2 at the Puerto Rico Open, T7 at the Tampa Bay Championship and finishing T9 at the RBC Heritage. He got his first PGA Tour win at the John Deere Classic in a three-way sudden death playoff and became the fourth youngest PGA Tour winner as well as giving Spieth full status as a PGA Tour member! With that win, he was made eligible for the FedEx Cup and even earned entries into the 2013 Open Championship, PGA Championship and 2014 Masters. He nearly won the Wyndham Championship as well, but lost in a playoff, and shot a final round 62 at the Deutsche Bank Championship to finish T4. He would make it all the way to the TOUR Championship at East Lake, the only rookie on Tour to do so! The icing on the cake for his amazing season was being a Captain’s pick by Fred Couples to represent Team USA at this year’s Presidents Cup at Muirfield Village.
It’s been nearly two decades since the golf world has seen such a great rookie campaign (Tiger Woods) – take a look at the Jordan Spieth golf feature above and we hope to see him continue his great play into the 2014 season!
