Take a look at the video above featuring Lydia Ko’s big day out on the golf course with her good friend Israel Dagg of the All Blacks. The Kiwi golf prodigy has officially turned professional and at 16 years old, is already ranked fifth in the world! Of all her tournaments to date as an amateur, she would have won $1.2 million. The first tournament she will compete in as a professional will be in November.
Throughout her young career, Ko was the youngest ever player to win a professional event when she claimed the New South Wales in 2012. She’s also won the CN Canadian Women’s Open twice and finished second at the Evian Masters, a Major championship, and won at the New Zealand Women’s Open. She’s also claimed the US and Australian Amateur titles and has been the world number one amateur for more than two years straight. Congratulations on turning professional, Lydia – good luck in the future!
