This is our third Course of the Week feature in the Maritime province of Nova Scotia. We’ve already featured two amazing courses in Cabot Links and Fox Harb’r Golf Resort. This week, we’re on Cape Breton Island again and featuring the Cape Breton Highlands Links, one of golf architect Stanley Thompson’s finest works! The course captures the wonderful land forms and scenary of the Atlantic Ocean coastline.
Opened in 1941, Cape Breton Highlands Links is consistently ranked in the Top 10 Best Courses in Canada and in the Top 100 Best Courses in the World and located in one of North America’s most beautiful National Parks (Cape Breton Highlands National Park, #2 National Park in North America by National Geographic Traveler Magazine, 2005). Golf Digest (February 2013) has even ranked Cape Breton Highlands Links as #7 in the top 30 Best in Canada!
The course has gone through a rejuvenation of late, being restored to Thompson’s original designs – the course is a full 18 hole golf course, playing roughly 6500 yards from the tips. Throughout your round of golf, you’ll get to indulge in mountain views and ocean vistas, playing on a golf course that has been designed to fit it’s surroundings – make sure to make a tee time soon! We hope we can visit that part of the country and play in the Maritimes soon!
