Golf Ball Hit at 150 MPH

Recently, a new series involving the science of golf has been started between the United States Golf Association (USGA), NBC Learn and Chevron! In the first video, the physics of the golf club was the main topic but what happens to the golf ball gets hit by a golf club? In a video that’s slowed down to 70,000 frames per second, a golf ball is hit with a steel plate traveling 150 MPH! For comparison, the average PGA Tour Pro swings the club at around 90-100 MPH while the average long drive champion swings at 145-155 MPH! Check what happens in the video when the golf ball is struck at 150 MPH by a metal plate. The result is astounding!
