Taylormade Japan New Distance Gloire

We’ve featured the Taylormade Japan Gloire line of equipment last year during the Japan Golf Show – this week, Taylormade Japan has officially announced their 2014 line of Gloire equipment, including Driver, Fairway Wood, Rescue, Iron and Golf balls. Unfortunately, Gloire is a Japan specific model (JDM) and will not be sold in North America.

The driver offers a high launch and draw biased characteristic. The main feature of the New Distance Gloire driver is the “Gloire Speed Face” which is made of 70 layers of graphite composite that allows for a lighter headweight. The multi-material Gloire Speed Face also gives golfers a 30% larger face area and a 55% larger sweetspot compared to a titanium face. And of course, the driver will feature Taylormade’s adjustable loft system. The Gloire fairway woods don’t have the same Gloire Speed Face, however, it does feature a Beta Titanium face and the Speed Pocket Technology that we are all familiar with in the Rocketballz fairway woods. Two tungsten weights (18 grams each) are positioned on the bottom of the club near to the face, enabling a low and forward centre of gravy to produce high trajectory, but low spin for more distance.

The Gloire rescue club features a 475 stainless steel face and also has the Speed Pocket technology in the clubhead. A seven gram weight is positioned close to the face as well, again to promote a low forward centre of gravity for high trajectory and low spin. The new Gloire irons may look very familiar to you (Speedblade irons / New Idea Hybrids, anybody?) as it also features the speed pocket technology we’re use to seeing in the Rocketbladez and Speedblade irons. One of the main differences though is a 20gram tungsten weight is positioned on the toe for stability at impact. Take a look at the specs here, although it is all in Japanese!
