Henrik Stenson was one of the most consistent players on the PGA Tour during the 2012-2013 season. His win at the Deutsche Bank Championship and at the TOUR Championship at East Lake in Atlanta returned the Swede to golf’s elite level, a stage he’s been absent from since 2009.
His game really started to pick up in March, where he finished second at the Shell Houston Open. He then finished 5th at The Players Championship, 3rd at the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open, 2nd at The Open Championship at Muirfield, 2nd at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational and 3rd in the PGA Championship. His two wins during the FedEx Cup Playoffs (Deutsche Bank and TOUR Championship) was enough for him to capture the FedEx Cup and the $10 million bonus!
This was his first multiple win season on the PGA Tour and he had to fight hard throughout his career for this success. At one point, Stenson dropped to World Number 621 from 73 at the beginning of his career. Ten years later, he would be ranked 4th in the world after his win at The Players Championship before dropping to 230th in the world and fighting back to where he is now, back at 4th in the Official Golf World rankings. We hope to see him continue this success into the 2014 PGA Tour season and finally breakthrough at a Major championship!
