Muirfield Village Course Overview

The 10th President’s Cup began today and despite a weather delay, the tournament got off to an exciting start! After Thursday’s Fourball matches, the Americans are leading the International team by a score of 3.5-2.5! By now, we should all be aware that the venue of the President’s Cup is Muirfield Village in Ohio, the course that Jack Nicklaus built. Although the Golden Bear himself has gone through Muirfield Village with us, Golfing World also takes us “inside the game” as the Head Pro of Muirfield Village, Larry Dornisch, gives us an overview of the course!

Since 1976, Muirfield Village has been the venue for the Memorial Tournament. However, the setup of Muirfield Village for the President’s Cup is slightly different from the annual tournament. With less rough and the possibility of the markers moved up, the setup will surely tempt and entice players to be aggressive with their play! Fans want to see birdies and eagles and Larry explains that the layout and the setup of Muirfield Village is perfect for match play golf! Perhaps this will aid the International team in ending their 15 year drought in the President’s Cup! No matter how it turns out, we are sure we’ll be treated to a weekend of great golf!
