Golf’s Return to the Olympics

Golf will finally return to the Olympics in 2016, but it will create a few logistical hurdles for the PGA TOUR. That is actually one of the reason’s the PGA TOUR originally resisted the idea of golf being an Olympic sport for the first time in over 100 years – it would create havoc with the PGA TOUR schedule and makes it difficult from a player perspective with so many events packed into such a short period of time. Hear from PGA TOUR Commissioner Tim Finchem in this interview with Golf Channel!

Olympic Golf Course design for 2016

To avoid conflicts with the 2016 Olympics, the 2016 PGA Championship at Baltusrol will be held around the last week of July rather than the beginning of August, with The Open Championship sliding up earlier in the month. The dates for the 2016 Major championships have yet to be announced, but the Olympics are scheduled for August 5 – 21, 2016. We wonder how this will also affect the FedEx Cup playoffs in 2016 as well! But one thing’s for sure, we’re going to be watching a lot of golf that summer!
