The TOUR Championship started yesterday, the last event for the FedEx Cup in the Playoffs and the $10 million bonus, at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta! The top 30 players in the FedEx Cup point standings compete and hope to end their year on a high. Mathematically, any player in the field can win the TOUR Championship and the FedEx Cup, but only the top 5 (Tiger Woods, Henrik Stenson, Adam Scott, Zach Johnson and Matt Kuchar) are in complete control of their destiny – they will be able to win the FedEx Cup and the $10 million bonus by winning the TOUR Championship this week! Watch the video above and hear from players what winning the TOUR Championship means to them!
Round 2 has already begun, but in round 1, we saw Henrik Stenson shoot a 6-under par round of 64. Stenson had five birdies over a six-hole stretch and only had one iron shot outside of 10 feet within the opening seven holes. All this while playing East Lake for the first time and after a mild anger meltdown at Conway Farms during the BMW Championship – Stenson leads Adam Scott by just one stroke. Tiger Woods, unfortunately, went the other way, shooting a 3-over par round of 73 and did not make any birdies at all during the first round! He’ll tee off with Jason Dufner today. In addition to the TOUR Championship and FedEx Cup, Player of the Year is still up for grabs on TOUR – who do you think will be the PGA TOUR Player of the Year?
