2013 Walker Cup: National Golf Links of America

We’re going to be getting a lot of team competition golf over the next month! The Presidents Cup is set to begin next month, with the teams finalized earlier this week. But before that, we’re going to get to watch the 2013 Walker Cup, to be held at National Golf Links of America in Southampton, New York. The Walker Cup is a golf trophy contested biannually between teams comprising of the leading amateur golfers in the USA versus Great Britain and Ireland; the match employes a combination of foursomes and singles competition!

There is a lot of history at National Golf Links of America, being the first venue to host the Walker Cup in 1922. Watch the video below to find out more about the course and get an insight into the life of Charles Blair MacDonald, the architect of National Golf Links of America and the impact he had on bringing golf to the USA.

For many of the participants, the 2013 Walker Cup will be the first time the golfers will be able to represent their country in a team golf competition.
