The 2013 CN Canadian Women’s Open was held at Royal Mayfair Golf Club in Edmonton, Canada this year. Last year, then 15 year old Lydia Ko pulled away from the field on the back 9 but this year, the result was never in doubt after the front 9! Lydia showed the patience and poise of a veteran as she shot a 6-under 64 en route to a 5 shot victory! Once again, Lydia has to give up a $300,000 pay day due to her amateur status but with her fourth victory in professional events, the decision to turn professional must be weighing heavily in her minds as well as her family’s! Safe to say, she’s found her career! Congratulations on defending your title so successfully!

Lydia has been making headlines for a while now. With her win last year at Vancouver Golf Club during the 2012 CN Canadian Women’s Open, she became the youngest winner in LPGA Tour history at 15 years, 4 months old and also the fifth amateur winner in tour history (the first since JoAnne Carner in the 1969 Burdine’s Invitational). She’s also had victories in other professional events, such as the Australian Tour’s New South Wales Open and the Ladies European Tour’s New Zealand Women’s Open. With this latest win, Lydia is projected to jump from 19th to seventh in the world ranking. In the 14 LPGA Tour events she’s played the last two seasons, she has made the cut in every tournament and even won the US Women’s Amateur last summer!
