Callaway Legacy Black Driver

callaway-legacy-black1

The Callaway Legacy line of golf equipment is exclusive to Japan and the Asian Tours. The release of the new Callaway Legacy Black driver is set for mid September and inspired by Phil Mickelson’s Phrankenwood. Player testing has been conducted at their Carlsbad, California facility with players such as Ryo Ishikawa over the past few months. Ryo Ishikawa joined Team Callaway at the beginning of the year and has club tested for Callaway before as well during the “300 Yard Spoon” X-Hot campaign for Callaway Japan.

The Callaway Legacy Black driver offers forged Tour performance. Advanced forging technology is combined with a premium black finish to give the club a classic look with modern technology, focused on delivering more distance with accuracy and feel. The Legacy Black will feature a Forged Speed Frame Face cup, which produces higher ball speeds for long distance, similar to the Phrankenwood. The new model will also offer adjustability as well – a silver triangular adjustable weight on the sole of the driver to move weight more forward in the clubhead and an adjustable hosel which gives 4 different loft options, addresses the “dynamic loft issue.” Check out the series of development videos below of player testing by Ryo Ishikawa and also hear from Dr. Alan Hocknell, SVP of Research and Development at Callaway. If you’re fluent in Japanese, leave a comment below and help us translate what Ryo says about the new driver! Stay tuned for 2 more videos over the next couple of weeks!
