By now, most of you should have heard about Tiger’s round on Friday at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational! Tiger was flirting with a score of 59 all day, with amazing ball striking, setting himself up for birdie and making all-world par saves! But it was not meant to be as Tiger ended up shooting 61, which tied his career best on Tour. However, 59 is a score that Tiger has shot before, just not on Tour!
According to his post round interviews, Tiger had a friendly wager with his good friend, Mark O’Meara, during a match in 1997 at Isleworth in Florida. Mark apparently lost a “boatload” in this friendly wager when Tiger shot 59 that day and the follow up was even better! As Tiger said,“The very next day an even better story is that we played nine holes and I was 5 under through nine holes, then I parred 10 and made a hole in one at 11. He just drove his cart home.”
Tiger hoped to continue his hot streak on moving day at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational and shot a score of 2-under 68. It’s not as impressive as the 61 he shot yesterday but the score was still enough to maintain a 7-shot lead going into the final day! And check out what kick started his day at Starbucks! The receipt was taped to the tip jar by this particular Starbucks after Tiger Woods came through! Now, do you think he had the Double Latte with Hazelnut or the soy drink?
