Tiger Woods at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational

We know the type of success that Tiger has had at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone – 7 victories already in his career just from this one golf course, and looking for number 8 as well as his 5th victory of the year and his famous “shot in the dark.” Today, in combination with a golf course he’s had so much success on, he shot a 9-under 61 to tie the course record and tie his career best on Tour, building a 7-shot lead after 36 holes going into the weekend at the Bridgestone Invitational. Check out the full highlights of his round in the video above!

Tiger was in total control of his game the past 2 days, his distance control has been fantastic and he is absolutely drilling the new Covert driver he’s put into his bag. In round 2, he started the day birdie-eagle-birdie and went 4-under through 3 holes. He would add another birdie on the front nine, before scoring four straight birdies from holes 10 – 13. He only needed 2 more birdies over his next 5 holes to finish his round with a 59, but he missed 2 birdie putts and finished his second round with 5 straight pars, which ended his run at 59 (he has shot 59 before in case you’re wondering, just not on Tour!).

He really had his complete game today, needing only 22 putts through 18 holes and even hit a driver 378 yards (334 carry, 378 total) on “The Monster” par-5 16th hole, which measures 667-yards! In the video below, you’ll see his amazing par putt on 18 to save his round of 61 – he made a mess of the 18th, driving the ball way, way right. In total today, he hit 10 of 14 fairways and was 16 of 18 for greens in regulation – not bad, considering the next best score of the day was a 66! But hopefully, you’ll be able to catch some of the highlights of Tiger’s first two rounds and get to watch him over the weekend! We’re hoping he can carry forward his fine play into the weekend and into next week at Oak Hill for the PGA Championship as well!
