We’ve seen over the past couple of months that the golf industry in Asia is a lot different than in North America. From fashion and apparel by Adidas Golf Style Japan, Yonex Japan and Callaway Apparel Japan to equipment such as denim golf bags, Japanese wedges and even Japanese putters.
Titleist Apparel in South Korea is no different. In a golf-crazed nation, Fila Korea recently bought Acushnet, parent company of Titleist and Footjoy, for $1.2 billion. In North America, we mainly know Footjoy for their golf shoes and Titleist for their great equipment and Pro V1 golf balls. However, in South Korea and Japan, the brand concepts are definitely different. There are Titleist brand stores all over South Korea and in parts of Japan, selling not only golf equipment but also golf apparel, including shoes, shirts, pants and more, similar to Callaway Apparel Japan. The three main lines of apparel include Performance (Titleist Performance Institute), Play (golf apparel) and Gallery (clubhouse attire) – you can see the spring/summer 2013 lookbook video here for Titleist Apparel Korea and the lookbook for Titleist Apparel Japan!
In addition to the apparel differences, check out the awesome Titleist Performance Center in Seoul, South Korea. TPC Seoul features a product display area along with the company’s history and achievements along the walls. They also offer a full Fitting Bay for club fitting, a Scotty Cameron Studio for putter fitting and lounge area.
