During the Open Championship, there were some complaints from players regarding the pin positions at Muirfield. They felt the R&A had put some of the pin positions in borderline unfair positions! In this year’s PGA Championship in approximately two weeks time, fans will now have a chance to affect the outcome of the tournament by being allowed to vote for the pin position for the final round on the par-3, 181-yard 15th hole!
This idea to involve fan participation was conceived by the great Golden Bear, Jack Nicklaus, who won the last of his five PGA Championships in 1980 at Oak Hill! As Jack Nicklaus said,”The chance for golf fans to interact with the PGA Championship and play a role in shaping the outcome of the final round fascinates me. It’s like being able to call the shots during the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl.” Voting began today and you can cast your vote by visiting PGA.com! We’ll be sure to cast our votes and make sure the players get a fair but tough test in the final round on the 15th hole!
