Ryder Cup stud Ian Poulter made a big splash on Twitter a few days ago as he announced he was retiring his current putter, the Odyssey XG No. 7. This was the same putter that Ian made clutch putts after clutch putts with at the Ryder Cup! Ian has no particular reason to change putter, aside from needing a visual change and resting his Ryder Cup putter in his trophy cabinet!
We all know that golf is as much a mental game as it is physical. Despite statistics indicating that Ian may need a change in putter, perhaps this visual change will inspire new confidence and feel for Ian, just in time for the Open! As he tweeted earlier today, Taylormade and Odyssey have submitted their “weapons” for Ian to try. Which one will he choose? Stay tuned on Ian’s Twitter account!
A few new weapons to test on the putting green. Odyssey and Taylormade putters are the first to arrive. #TheOpen http://t.co/pmZjGgvM4E
