Mr. Fitness; The Black Knight; ESPN Body Issue. This is the fitness story of Hall of Fame Golfer, Mr. Gary Player, who is a cover athlete in ESPN The Magazine’s 2013 Body Issue. At 77 years old, Mr. Player looks like he’s actually 57 years old. In this interview with ESPN The Magazine, Mr. Player details his diet and exercise regimen. The one quote that stands out to us though is below:
Q: What is the most important muscle in your body?
Player: No question: your core. That holds your body together. Most people my age haven’t seen their private parts in 10 years because they have such a big stomach. And they never will again.”
Definitely a level of fitness to strive for by the time we hit 77!
In addition to Mr. Player, Carly Booth is the second golfer to pose for the Body Issue. Booth is a Scottish golfer who had success as an amateur golfer as well as two wins on the Ladies European Tour. Mr. Player actually has more PGA Tour wins (24) than Booth has years lived (21)!
