Callaway has just released two new drivers and a fairway wood under the FT Optiforce name. The theme for this line of drivers is speed – that is, increasing ball speed through additional head speed. It is Callaway’s most advanced aerodynamic driver head shape ever and is available in two club head sizes – 440cc and 460cc. The 440cc head will promote more of a penetrating ball flight with less focus on forgiveness for the better player and the 460cc head will be the more forgiving and higher launching of the two. At first glance, the FT Optiforce reminds us of Callaway’s Japanese Market Legacy series drivers, which have recently had 3 models added to the USGA’s conforming list of equipment.
Adjustability is still a large part of this driver – the Optiforce will offer 8 different positions to customize both loft and lie. Stock shafts offered will include the 43g Project X Velocity or 62g Diamana S+. The FT Optiforce fairway wood shares many features with the X-Hot fairway woods. The FT Optiforce is lighter though and is designed to fly even higher with more forgiveness and maximum playability. Find out more about both the driver and the fairway wood in this edition of Callaway Talks.
