We have featured quite a few young golfers and their accomplishments recently and the latest one to add to the list is Brooke Henderson of Smiths Falls, Ontario, Canada! At 15 years old, Brooke is the top-ranked amateur golfer in Canada and after finishing in the top three at the 78-golfer sectional qualifier at Edgewood Country Club in River Vale, N.J., Brooke has qualified for the U.S. Women’s Open held from June 27-30 at Sebonack Golf Club on Long Island!
Canadian sports network TSN and Powerade has teamed up to “showcase 24 of Canada’s future stars today” and Brooke Henderson is definitely an up and coming star in golf! Brooke’s love for the game started with Brooke following her older sister around and watching her play tournaments. This passion led her to become the youngest golfer in history to win a professional event at the age of 14! By winning on the Canadian Women’s Tour, she qualified for the 2012 Canadian Women’s Open and was the youngest player to ever play in that event! Brooke hopes to attend college in the United States and compete for Major Championships on the LPGA Tour. It looks like she’s well on her way with her first US Women’s Open next week!
