Chinese Golfers Join Team Nike

At this year’s Masters, history was made as China’s Guan TianLang became the youngest participant ever to compete at the Masters at the age of 14! A month later, 12-year-old Ye Wocheng made his first start at the Volvo China Open and became the youngest player to compete on the European Tour! China has developed tremendously in the last decade and the game of golf as grown with it. With an approximate population of 1.3 billion people, it is expected that many golfers will come out of China in the future. Never ceasing to let an opportunity slip away, Team Nike recently added two Chinese players to their team!

The two Chinese players signed by Team Nike are Li Hao-Tong and Zhang Xin-Jun. Li hails from the Hunan Province of China and has an impressive amateur resume, winning nine gold medals and six silver medals in the Asian games. He was a part of the Chinese National team in 2010 and 2011 and this year, he did quite well at the Australian PGA Championship and New Zealand PGA Championship, tying for 39th and 5th respectively. Zhang, on the other hand, is from Shanxi Province. He was also a part of the Chinese National team in 2007 and after turning pro at the age of 23, fared quite well in a few tournaments. Zhang tied for 13th in the 2011 Shanghai HSBC Championship and he also won two gold medals and a silver medal in Chinese Professional Tournaments in 2011 and 2012! We imagine this is the first of many Chinese golfer signings to come!
