Most people in their retirement take up the game of golf. For former Atlanta Braves’ pitcher, John Smoltz, he aspires to be a professional golfer. What’s a better way to achieving that goal than having your own practice facility in your backyard! In HGTV’s “Million Dollar Rooms,” we get a tour of John’s 18,625-square-foot mansion that sits on a 22 acre yard.
With such a massive property, John knew exactly what to do with it. Your average guy has a man-cave but when you are a former Cy Young winner, you get your own tennis and basketball courts, a 9-hole golf course, a baseball field and a jogging trail! All this set John back a cool $2 million and keeps a running cost as it requires a full-time landscaper. Of course it would as it takes seven hours to mow it all. John Smoltz has a very diverse backyard but if you are a real golf junkie, your yard would probably look more like the yard of famed golf coach, Dave Pelz!
Dave Pelz’ yard feature replica holes from Augusta National and TPC Sawgrass and the greatest feature of all? It requires no maintenance as it is made with synthetic turf! Check out some pictures of the Dave Pelz’ yard here! Both of these yards are unreal and a dream for many of us. Perhaps a simple backyard such as one by Precision Greens would be more realistic!
