Taylormade Japan Gloire Driver

A couple weeks ago, we featured the Japan Golf Fair, held in Tokyo. At this fair, we saw many of golf’s biggest companies as well as some of the local Japanese companies highlight their new products for the 2013 season. One of the companies with the biggest presence this year was Taylormade Japan, which had 3 distinct sections for their booth – one for the new R1, one for the Rocketballz Stage 2 and the last for their premium Japan line of equipment, the Gloire (pronounced Glory).

The Gloire line features all forged irons and drivers as well as a new carbon face on the Gloire Reserve driver. Below, you can take a look at a video by Taylormade that discusses the new Gloire Reserve driver – it is Taylormade’s most premium distance driver ever with the biggest sweet spot they have ever produced due to the multi-layer face. Furthermore, the Gloire Reserve driver takes advantage of Taylormade’s knowledge in adjustability, having a tuned CG weighting system (slightly heel-biased) to promote a high draw ball-flight and Flight Control Technology (FCT), with a total of 8 settings and a total loft range of 3 degrees.

The Gloire line has always had an iron selection as well, but new this year is the Gloire Forged iron, an advanced soft feeling, multi-piece forged iron. What’s unique about the Gloire Forged Irons is that every iron is designed like a metalwood. Tradition meets technology in this forged iron. Some of the other features of the Gloire Forged Irons are:

– Every iron is designed like a metalwood
– Hollow construction with dual tungsten sole weights combines performance with traditional looks
– Dual Cavity clubhead design (#6-AW)
– 18g dual tungsten sole weights provide lower CG for higher launch and more forgiveness
– Multi-material pull-face technology with a 1.8mm maraging steel face built for speed

In addition to the Gloire Reserve driver and Gloire Forged Irons, this premium Japan line of clubs also features Rescue Clubs, Utility Irons, Fairway Woods and also a super soft, 342 dimple design, 5 layer construction golf ball which is optimized for slower swing speeds to provide higher ball flights and more spin around the greens. Above, you can see another video from Taylormade Japan that speaks to all the features we’ve listed above – just a warning though, the video is in Japanese!
