This week in our Course of the Week feature, we’re going to introduce Storey Creek Golf Course, just south of Campbell River on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. The course is located on the east-central coastline of Vancouver Island. As seen in the photos above, Storey Creek is known for its picturesque scenery and challenging, yet playable Les Furber design (whose motto is “we designed 2 out of every 3 golf courses in Canada!”).
Like most courses we’ve featured, Storey Creek Golf Course is widely known as a “course in nature,” where the design blends into it’s surroundings and makes it seem as if the golf course was there all along. In addition to it’s natural beauty forests that surround Storey Creek, there are regular sightings of deer, hawks and eagles alongside beaver ponds and streams filled with salmon and trout. There can occasionally be black bears and cougars as well – talk about a hazard!
