Course of the Week: Arbutus Ridge Golf Club

Arbutus Ridge Golf Club is another scenic golf course near the city of Victoria on Vancouver Island. Also owned and operated by GolfBC, Arbutus Ridge has a “Four Star Golf Digest Rating and was voted the Best Destination Golf Course in British Columbia by readers of Golf Nerve Magazine.” Perhaps it is because Arbutus Ridge is so close to many other attractions, such as nine of Vancouver Island’s finest wineries within the Cowichan Valley! But it is the golf that is sure to provide an unforgettable experience!

Arbutus Ridge is located in the seaside community of Cobble Hill, which ensures the front nine of the course has as many scenic views as possible. The back nine however, climbs a ridge onto a plateau where the course offers vistas of nearby islands and mountains. As seen in the pictures and video below, breathtaking is really an understatement! With environmental impact being more and more of a concern for golf courses, Arbutus Ridge took initiative and is one of five golf courses in Canada to measure their carbon footprint. A Green Committee has been formed by the golf club to preserve and protect the environment and for its work, Arbutus Ridge Golf Club has earned a Certificate in Environmental Planning!

Arbutus Ridge is not just to look at and appreciate though. It is definitely a challenging golf course however, it also received a certificate for being beginner friendly! Who knew that existed? The 17th hole may not seem beginner friendly though as it’s a 214-yard par 3 island green! Watch the video below for an overview of Arbutus Ridge. There are also more videos on their YouTube channel.
