Heading into the final round of the 2013 Farmers Insurance Open was Tiger Woods, leading by six-shots. After a 10 hour fog delay on Saturday, play had to be finished on Monday. Tiger was in total control of his game and as he said, he felt he had the “whole package” this week. He didn’t play particularly well on Monday though, partly due to slow play and the loss of focus and concentration. However, he did end up at 14-under par, four-shots ahead of second place and never in any real danger in losing the tournament. This was Tiger’s 75th career win and 8th victory at Torrey Pines; he’s won 7 Farmers Insurance Opens and the historic 2008 US Open, where he beat Rocco Mediate in an 18-hole playoff on a broken leg at Torrey Pines. On another note, shout out to Rickie Fowler who finished the tournament at T-6, 8-under par. Quite the accomplishment after shooting a 77 his first round!
This win comes a week after he missed the cut at the 2013 Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championships, where he suffered from a bizarre penalty. This will fuel the “Is He Back?!” questions all over again – hopefully he can continue with this strong play throughout the 2013 season. Tiger’s week of play reminds us of a commercial from Nike Golf a while back – check it out below!
