Golf and hockey has been forever linked since Happy Gilmore took to the links back in the 1996 Hollywood sports comedy. With yesterday being the opening day of the NHL season after a lengthy lockout, we thought this would be a good time to refresh everyone’s memory of the partnership between Taylormade and CCM! By collaborating together, Taylormade and CCM were able to use their “technical and innovative approaches” to create and develop the CCM RBZ hockey stick!
Similar to the Taylormade Rocketballz and Rocketbladez line in golf, the CCM RBZ hockey stick aims to increase puck speed to “rocket” level. By distributing the weight better, the stick is able to produce a faster swing (hence, faster puck speed) and a customized kick point for maximum shot unloading is achieved by maintaining constant stiffness profile all the way through the shaft of the hockey stick. SpeedBlade technology was also implemented to proide a hot blade face.
This technology is definitely revolutionary and we can continue to watch young NHL stars such as Gabriel Landeskog and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins put them to the test this season. Welcome back, NHL!
