Dustin Johnson Wins At Kapalua

The conditions this past week at the Tournament of Champions was horrendous as wind blew up to 40mph. This caused many delays and forced officials to shorten the tournament to 54 holes. Despite the challenging conditions, one man stood above all as Dustin Johnson went on to win by 4 strokes over Steve Stricker at the Plantation Course at Kapalua.

Dustin’s round was not without struggle as an errant tee shot led to a double bogey in his round. However, he quickly recovered as he blasted his drive the following hole before chipping in for eagle. Dustin is notorious for his late round meltdowns such as his final round at the US Open at Pebble Beach where he shot a final round 82. There was also his “bunker” shot at the PGA Championship in Whistling Straits. Perhaps there was a calming influence by his side this week in Maui as Dustin has been seen spending time with Paulina Gretzky, the daughter of hockey’s great, Wayne Gretzky. Whether it was a calming influence or not, the result was definitely positive for Dustin and for his sake and everyone else, we definitely hope Paulina will be making more appearances at PGA events this year!
