Yesterday, we featured part 1 of the Mizuno Yoro Japan Crafted program, which shows a video of the craftsmanship of Mizuno Technicians working on a customized loft and lie for a club head. As we mentioned in part 1, the skill and craftsmanship of Mizuno Technicians allow them to potentially change the weight at the club head. Part 2 shows how they do this.
Mizuno Technicians can change the weight of the club head at any time by shaving it down a little bit, while still keeping the same size and shape of the club head. The eyes and sense of craftsmanship by the Mizuno Technicians ensure that not too much of the club head is shaved or cut, so that the shape of the club head maintains the same. These club heads will essentially be carved by hand. Any imperfections can not only change the cosmetic look of the club head, but affect the distribution of power, or “sweet spot” of the face. This shows the incredible skill of the Mizuno Techinicians. Once the loft, lie and club head are finished, they’ll be moved on to the polishing and groove cutting process, which we’ll feature in part 3.
